The Maritime Institute for Emergency Monitoring and Response focus is in the area of research and operations of the maritime industries indigenous to the South Louisiana region and the Gulf Coast. The primary purpose of the Maritime Institute is to: - Establish a forum for research and development and the coordination of application of new technologies for the protection of assets and infrastructure in the maritime industries.
- Develop training for private industry to meet its immediate needs for compliance with federal and state homeland security mandates, disaster preparedness & response, and
- Design an associated curriculum to educate future specialists in disaster preparedness and homeland security careers.
